CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - The Israeli Defense Ministry's Research and Development Directorate is evaluating a new laser defense system that can intercept mortar shells and Kassam rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
The new Laser Air Defense System is a developed by Raytheon, a US company specializing in defense technology.
"With the laser, there is no need to send troops across the border to destroy the bomb," one official explained.
Israel is also observing the Iron Dome interceptor, which uses similar technology, and is made by the Israeli firm Rafael. Both systems are in the field-testing stage.
