CBNNews.com - YAKIR JUNCTION, Israel - A Palestinian gunman ambushed an Israeli driver near the Yakir Junction in northern Samaria overnight Friday, firing several shots that shattered the windshield.
The driver, a resident of Kiryat Ono east of Tel Aviv, was lightly wounded by glass shards, but he drove on to Yakir, where he contacted the authorities.
Magen David Adom paramedics treated him there before transporting him to Beilinson Medical Center in Petah Tikvah for further treatment.
"The driver was in shock and suffered mild wounds," a paramedic told YNet news. "I treated him at the scene, and then a physician suggested he be taken to the hospital for further treatment," he said.
Israel Defense Forces soldiers were deployed to the area to search for the gunman, who opened fire on them, wounding a commander. In the ensuing fire fight, he was killed.
In routine overnight counter-terror operations, IDF soldiers arrested three Palestinians on Israel's most wanted list.
