CBNNews.com - RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Salam Fayyad presented his own reconciliation plan to reunite rival Palestinian factions.
Fayyad's three-part plan calls on the factions to sign an internal security agreement, create a transitional government, and set a date for presidential and legislative elections.
The PA prime minister's plan also calls for Egypt to deploy a security delegation and/or troops to oversee the plan's implementation in the Gaza Strip.
The transitional government envisioned by Fayyad will be made up of unaffiliated Palestinians, acceptable to both groups.
Last, presidential elections scheduled for January and legislative elections, still two years away, would be moved up.
According to the Israeli daily Haaretz, both Hamas and Fatah accept Fayyad's three-stage plan, but there has been no real progress in the meetings that have taken place in the year following the Hamas takeover of Gaza.
