Vacationing Israelis Urged to Leave Sinai

CBNNews.com - SINAI PENINSULA, Egypt - Israelis vacationing in the northern Sinai were urged to leave immediately, following warnings of specific terror attacks.

Israel's Counter-Terrorism Bureau issued the alert.

"Activity by terrorist elements in the Sinai Peninsula, working to abduct Israelis, raises the possibility that they intend to carry out a kidnapping in the very near, or immediate, future," the warning read.

The Egyptian Sinai is a favorite vacation spot for Israelis, despite frequent warnings by the National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau.

The danger increased after Hamas blew up the security barrier at the Rafah border crossing last January, allowing thousands of Gazans to enter Egypt, among them unknown numbers of active members of Palestinian terror groups, many of whom stayed in the Sinai.
