CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers killed three Islamic Jihad terrorists planting bombs along the security fence.
After spotting three Palestinian gunmen approaching the border fence near southern Gaza, the IDF dispatched Givati Brigade soldiers from the Tzabar Battalion.
Palestinian sources identified the gunmen as members of Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigades.
After detonating an explosive device near an IDF jeep, the soldiers shot them before they could plant a second bomb.
Bombs, rifles and other weapons were found on the jihadists' bodies, the IDF reported.
"The threat of explosive devices targeting army patrols is well known," an IDF officer said. "The terror organizations are going to great lengths to plant these bombs, some of which are highly advanced," he said.
In a second incident, two Palestinian gunmen approached the border fence near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The IAF (Israel Air Force) targeted the terror cell, hitting one gunman.
Palestinian sources reported that three members of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades were wounded in the air strike.
Meanwhile, Palestinians fired two mortar shells into Israel, one hitting near the Karni border crossing and the other near the border fence. No one was injured, nor was there any property damage.
