CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi led a delegation of 13 congressmen to a weekend gathering celebrating Israel's 60th anniversary.
In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, Pelosi focused on the importance of preventing Iran from producing nuclear weapons.
According to Pelosi, America must make its policy clear.
"If these weapons proliferate, they are a threat to everyone, not just to the US and not just to Israel," Pelosi said.
"You have to go all the way. And people have to know you are deadly serious that if you want to be our friend, if you want the benefit of our friendship, a central pillar of our foreign policy is to stop the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," she said.
Pelosi also praised presidential hopeful Barack Obama, calling him "a true leader" who would "meet the challenge we have in terms of Iran."
The speaker of the house said Israel is "beacon of democracy" and America and Israel share similar visions of the future.
