CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - In a briefing at Sunday morning's Cabinet meeting, Yuval Diskin, head of the Shin Bet (General Security Agency) said delaying military action in the Gaza Strip will prove disastrous for Israel.
According to Diskin, Hamas now has Iranian missiles capable of reaching beyond the coastal city of Ashkelon to Ashdod and Kiryat Gat.
"The scale of the threat against Israel is growing," Diskin said, as Hamas strengthened its ties with Iran.
"Hamas already has considerable abilities and possesses hundreds of rockets with a 12.5-mile range. If the issue is not addressed, Hamas will have additional cities within its range," he told Cabinet ministers.
"The chances for calm are very low," Diskin said of the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire with Hamas and 12 smaller Palestinian terror groups.
According to Diskin, part of Egypt's motivation to secure a cease-fire agreement is their concern that the violence in the Gaza Strip would cause a mass exodus into Egypt.
