RAMALLAH, West Bank - Three Arab residents of the ancient port city of Akko were indicted on Tuesday for torching a yeshiva or rabbinical school in the town.
Ibrahim Bayuni, 29, Khaled Shaaban, 20, and Salah Titti, 20, were charged with arson, conspiracy to commit a crime, and weapons manufacturing and possession at Haifa's District Court.
The defendants threw a Molotov cocktail through a window, setting fire to the Northern Wind Hesder Yeshiva.
The incident followed nearly 10 days of rioting between Akko's Arab and Jewish residents, which began on Yom Kippur.
In the indictment, the State Prosecutor's Office said the defendants were seeking revenge for the actions of Jewish residents during the rioting and asked that they be remanded for the remainder of the proceedings.
