NABLUS, West Bank - Israel Defense Force (IDF) troops prevented a Palestinian man from stabbing a female soldier at a checkpoint near Nablus (biblical Shechem).

Troops subdued the attacker when he pulled out a knife during a routine security check at the Beit Eiba checkpoint,

During a search of his possessions, soldiers found a homemade bomb and some bullets. Sappers detonated the bomb in a controlled explosion and the man was arrested.

Earlier in the day, another Palestinian carrying a knife was detained for questioning at the Hawara checkpoint.

At the same checkpoint in September, a Palestinian woman threw acid in a soldier's face, causing him to lose his sight in one eye.
