CHURSHA, Israel - A group of Arabs and left-wing Israelis attacked a small Jewish outpost near the Samarian community of Adei Ad, torching living quarters, prayer books, and bludgeoning a family's puppy to death.
After telling area police they had come to harvest olives, the perpetrators circled back to the outpost, where they carried out their attack.
Police detained two male and one female Israeli in their 20s and an older Arab man.
MK Uri Ariel (National Union/National Religious Party) said the incident reflected a dangerous escalation by left-wing Israelis collaborating with Arab attackers.
"These serious phenomena, along with the destruction of vineyards and olive trees in the Binyamin area, are the result of the fact that the defense minister (Ehud Barak) and OC Central Command are busy selectively enforcing the law against the Jewish residents of the region," Ariel said, which in turn encourages an escalation in the violence.
