CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Documents seized in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) counter-terrorism operations in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) indicate that funding from Islamic organizations abroad are funneled into Israel from the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Israeli officials attribute the trend to increased scrutiny of monies from Islamic charities transferred to Israeli banks, which makes wiring funds to PA banks is considerably easier.
Since the beginning of the year, the IDF has been keeping a closer eye on Hamas-affiliated groups in cities under PA control, especially Ramallah, Hebron, Kalkilya, and Nablus (biblical Shechem).
Recently, PA security forces have stepped up their monitoring of Hamas-affiliated groups in these cities.
The IDF is analyzing the confiscated documents to uncover any attempts to finance Islamic terror groups.
According to the IDF, Israeli Arabs have requested tens of millions of dollars from their counterparts in PA cities -- who receive huge sums of money from Muslims in Arab and European countries -- to construct mosques and other building projects.
