CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the transfer of 1,000 automatic rifles and 10,000 rounds of ammunition from Jordan to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
According to Palestinian sources, PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad requested the additional weapons and ammunition to aid Fatah-affiliated security forces confront Hamas terrorists in PA-controlled cities in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria).
Fayyad said PA security forces are attempting to uncover money laundering operations financing Hamas and uproot Hamas cells in the West Bank.
As in the past, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operating in these areas warned that the weapons and ammunition often end up in terrorists' hands.
