CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - The number of Israeli doctors and nurses continues to decline, according to the Israel Medical Association's annual report.
Dr. Yoram Belcher, head of the medical association, describes the situation as "very grave," pointing out that the report is based on 25,300 physicians in Israel, whereas the Central Bureau of Statistics says that number is 21,400.
Belcher, noting the ratio of practicing physicians is less than three for every 1,000 residents, said the State should draft an emergency plan for training doctors, which improves on the existing setup for Israeli doctors publicly employed through the national insurance program.
