SOUTHERN ISRAEL - An unmanned Palestinian fishing boat sailing north toward Israel exploded off the coast of Gaza Monday morning.
An Israeli naval vessel, which spotted the fishing boat and monitored it for nearly an hour, watched the huge explosion, evidence of the boat's "cargo."
Israeli naval authorities, who are investigating the incident, believe the booby-trapped boat, which was detonated by remote control, was a botched terror attack against a naval vessel or Israeli coastal community.
There were no injuries or property damage in the blast, which took place near the Israeli border, some 300 meters.2 OF A MILE, off the Gaza coast.
Palestinians accused the Israeli navy of firing on the fishing boat.
