CBNNews.com - AMMAN, Jordan - Jordanian legislators canceled a trip to The Hague to petition the international court against Israeli leaders for "war crimes and genocide in Gaza."
The Jordanian delegation planned to hand deliver a letter to Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the court's prosecutor, asking him to open an investigation against Israel's prime minister, foreign minister, public security minister, deputy defense minister and IDF (Israel Defense Forces) chief of general staff.
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor called the Jordanian plan "legally ludicrous and laughable."
"This is a ridiculous joke of a lawsuit that is based on news clippings taken out of Hamas's propaganda publications," he said.
"This suit has no legal grounds. It's a purely propaganda move that will eventually fall in the water," he said.
Public Security Minister Avi Dichter said it was hypocritical.
"Neither Jordan's parliament nor any other legislative body can preach to Israel about war ethics," Dichter told Israel Radio, especially in view of the infamous Black September in 1970, when Jordanian security forces killed thousands of the country's Palestinian residents.
