CBNNews.com - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she plans to attend next week's conference in Cairo on aid to Gaza.
"One thing is that immediately upon being inaugurated and my taking office as secretary of state, President Obama and I said the United States will get re-engaged in trying to help in the Middle East," Clinton told reporters Wednesday during her visit to Indonesia.
"I will go to Cairo next week to a conference sponsored by the Egyptians to try to get humanitarian aid to Gazans," she said.
Representatives from an estimated 70 countries plan to attend the conference, according to Egyptian Foreign Ministry officials.
UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon said plans are underway to raise an estimated $613 billion for Gaza residents, the French news agency, AFP, reported.
