CBNNews.com - HAIFA, Israel - The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended the remand of three Israeli Arab teenagers who pelted police with stones during demonstrations against the Gaza operative.
"We have enough enemies outside the country and no one must be allowed to weaken Israel's security forces from within by throwing stones or staging riots," Judge Moshe Gilad told the defendants.
"Abusing democracy and freedom of speech in such cases is akin to biting the hand that feeds you," the judge said.
All three teens are charged with throwing stones at police officers, and one is also charged with setting tires on fire.
According to YNet news, 700 Israelis have been arrested during violent demonstrations against the Gaza operation, primarily in Jerusalem and in the North, and 90 Israeli policemen have been injured.
