CBNNews.com - DAMASCUS, Syria - Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian parliament, is in Syria to confer with Damascus-based Hamas leaders.
Larijiani is the second senior Iranian official to to meet with Hamas leaders in the Syrian capital.
Earlier this week, Iranian security official Saeed Jalili met with exiled Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal and several others at the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Reuters news agency reported.
On Wednesday, Larijani met with leaders of Islamic Jihad, which like Hamas and Hezbollah, maintains close ties with Iran.
Larijani also met with Syrian President Bashar Assad to discuss the "dangerous situation" in Gaza, SANA, the state-run Syrian news agency, reported.
Iran and Syria cooperate closely in arming, training and financing Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
