CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Military Intelligence chief Major-General Amos Yadlin said Israel can expect Hamas to continue carrying out terror attacks and firing rockets.
Yadlin joined IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-General Gabi Ashkenazi and Shin Bet (General Security Agency) head Yuval Diskin in briefing Cabinet ministers.
"Hamas will try to change the picture Israel painted [in the Gaza operation] and even the score by using, among other things, terror attacks," Yadlin said.
"Hamas sustained a heavy blow," he said. "Hundreds of their commanders and operatives were casualties. Hamas is hiding the true extend of the damage," Yadlin said.
Diskin warned that Hamas terrorists could rebuild the tunnels destroyed by IAF (Israel Air Force) air strikes and resume arms smuggling within a few months.
"The damages to the smuggling tunnels along [the] Philadelphi [corridor] were significant," Diskin said.
"But if Israel does not keep on top of this issue, the situation will return to the way it was a few months ago," he said.
"The upcoming days will determine whether the cease-fire will hold or whether there will be a renewal of combat," Diskin said.
