CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - At 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, a time of public prayer on behalf of the soldiers fighting in Gaza will be held at the Kotel -- the western wall of the Temple Mount.

Israel's former Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu invited the public to pray for the IDF troops fighting in Gaza and for soldiers who have been wounded.

The rabbis will also lead prayer for residents of western Negev communities living under the threat of rocket fire.

There will also be prayer for rain, with the country is in its fourth consecutive year of below-average winter rains.

Finally, participants will pray for the release of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard, who has been imprisoned in America for 23 years.

Israelis have petitioned successive US presidents to grant clemency to Pollard, but no one has been willing.

In Israel, a special phone line has been set up to ask President George Bush to pardon Pollard before he leaves office in a little over two weeks.
