KALKILYA, West Bank - A Palestinian family tortured and killed a teenage son suspected of "collaborating" with Israel.

Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces found the body of 15-year-old Raed Wael Sawalha in the basement of his home near the PA-controlled city of Kalkilya on Wednesday.

Neighbors suspected the boy had committed suicide and PA security forces initially suspected some kind of criminal motive.

But a preliminary investigation revealed that the boy's family, including his father, uncle and cousin, tortured him before hanging him.

Several family members, who confessed to the murder, have been detained for further questioning, according to Gen. Adnan Damiri, a spokesman for the PA security forces.

While hundreds of alleged collaborators with Israel have been killed in PA-controlled areas, Sawalha is the youngest known victim.
