CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - British parliamentarian George Galloway held a "secret" meeting with Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, The Associated Press reported.
Haniyeh's office released a photo of the two men embracing one another.
Galloway came bearing money and gifts -- 100 vehicles, three of which, along with $35,000, were his personal gift to Hamas.
In a press conference following the clandestine meeting, Galloway told reporters that his gift was given "to the elected government of Palestine."
In defiance of potential efforts to prosecute him for funding a terrorist organization, Galloway told reporters his countrymen would not find him guilty.
"If you want to take me to court, I promise you there is no jury in all of Britain that will convict me," he said.
Ahmed Kurd, a senior Hamas official, thanked the British parliamentarian, whom he called a "hero," for his "noble good will gesture."
According to AP, Galloway led a delegation from Britain, which entered the Gaza Strip from Egypt with an estimated $1.4 million in aid for Hamas.
Lauren Booth, the sister-in-law of EU Middle East envoy Tony Blair, was part of the delegation.
