Egypt Seizes TNT, Cement, Sheep

Ad Feedback - RAFAH BORDER CROSSING - Egyptian border police seized a half ton of TNT and five tons of cement hidden near the border with the Gaza Strip, ready to be smuggled through border tunnels.

Police also confiscated a flock of 560 sheep north of the Rafah border crossing, near entrances to six large smuggling tunnels, four of which were some 10 feet in diameter.

The Israel Air Force (IAF) destroyed more than half of the smuggling tunnels during the three-week military operation in the Gaza Strip in January, which ended when the outgoing Olmert government declared a unilateral cease-fire.

In the interim, the Hamas government has continued its efforts to rebuild and expand the tunnels, used in large part to smuggle arms to Palestinian terror groups in Gaza.
