CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Reda is awaiting instructions from Cairo regarding his attendance at a 30th anniversary celebration of Egypt's peace treaty with Israel.
"He has known about it [the Foreign Ministry's reception] for some time, [but] we still have no confirmation," Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said.
"Obviously when you want to commemorate and celebrate an anniversary of the peace treaty, you are supposed to do it in the presence of both parties concerned," he said.
"This should be an opportunity for common celebration, for Israel and Egypt. Peace has greatly served the interest of both countries and both peoples, obviously, and we should celebrate it," Palmor said.
In a related incident, the Egyptian Embassy declined an invitation by the Bible Lands Museum to attend the opening of a new exhibit called Echoes of Egypt.
