KISSUFIM, Israel - An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) helicopter gunship fired on a four-man terror cell approaching the security fence near the Kissufim crossing with the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning.
A unit of Golani Brigade soldiers, who spotted the gunmen attempting to plant an explosive device, alerted the military chopper, which fired at the terror cell, killing two of the four members.
The two terrorists killed in the attack may have been wired with explosives, according to the military.
Attempts by Gaza-based Palestinians to plant bombs along the security fence are a common occurrence, requiring daily vigilance by IDF troops stationed near the border.
Tuesday's incident was the first in several seeks in which Palestinian gunmen were killed.
