CBNNews.com - HAIFA, Israel - Following Saturday evening's unsuccessful attempt for a massive terror bombing at Haifa's Lev Hamifratz mall, undercover police tested the security at three area malls on Tuesday.
Security guards at the three test locations failed to discover large quantities of fake explosives hidden in the trunks or detonation paraphernalia hidden under the drivers' seats, ushering the vehicles into outdoor and underground parking lots at Lev Hamifratz, Ravmad and Kiryon malls.
Afterward, police officers revealed their identities to the security guards while conducting an initial investigation.
The drill confirmed the need to beef up security protocol at the malls. Security personnel from all three locations will be required to testify at a hearing.
Coastal Region Deputy Police Inspector Roni Atiya said police will continue with similar drills until they're satisfied that security checks at malls and other public gathering places has been corrected.
"We are extremely disappointed with the drill's results," the deputy police chief said. "We see any lapse in the security guards' level of alert as severe," he said.
