Christians worldwide are commemorating Good Friday, the day Jesus died on the cross.
Good Friday is the solemn day when Christians reflect on the suffering and crucifixion of Christ.
In Jerusalem, believers filled the streets of the Old City as they remember Jesus' journey to the cross.
Thousands of Christians retraced Jesus' last steps down the Via Dolorosa, translated from Latin as "Way of Grief" or "Way of Suffering." The Via Dolorosa is a street within the Old City of Jerusalem believed to be the path that Jesus walked, carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion. The current route has been established since the 18th century.
The route ends at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, one possible site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.
CBN News Mideast Bureau Chief Chris Mitchell spoke about the excitement surrounding the celebration of Easter in Jerusalem and the Christian pilgrimage that has been made for thousands of years, on CBN News Channel Morning News, April 22.
