JERUSALEM, Israel -- Disparaging remarks by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Barack Obama against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the G20 summit last week just made the headlines in Israeli media.

According to Reuters, which verified the quotes, microphones were accidentally left on during a private conversation between the two leaders.

The discussion began with Obama criticizing Sarkozy for backing a Palestinian request for membership in UNESCO.

Sarkozy then reportedly told Obama that he could not "bear" Netanyahu and thinks the Israeli premier "is a liar."

Obama responded, "You're fed up, but I have to deal with it all day."

Netanyahu's spokesman said the prime minister has not responded to the remarks, nor was it certain he would.

The White House has not commented on the exchange.
