A senior Israeli Defense Force official said recent revolutions in the Arab world could lead to a regional war.
IDF Maj. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg said what many are calling an Arab spring is more like a "radical Islamic winter."
"The likelihood of an all-out war is increasingly growing," he said, according to a report from YNet News.
Eisenberg made the comments while speaking at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, Monday.
CBN News Mideast Bureau Chief offered his insights on whether the Jewish state is headed for an Islamic showdown on the CBN News Channel's Morning News, Sept. 13.
He also warned if war does break out, there's a chance weapons of mass destruction will be used.
Israeli Army Radio and public television said Eisenberg was probably referring to missiles with chemical warheads that could fall into the hands of Islamists if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime were to fall.
Eisenberg also said the deterioration of Israel-Turkey ties could contribute to a possible regional conflict.
