Authorities suspect Jewish extremists are responsible for the desecration of a Greek Orthodox monastery in Jerusalem.

Israeli police say vandals wrote phrases like "Death to Christians" across the walls of one of the buildings.

Similar acts of vandalism are common at West Bank mosques, but they have recently spread to mosques inside Israel, Israeili military bases and now a Christian holy site.

Israel's Army Radio reported that police also found the term " Maccabees of Migron."

The Maccabees were ancient Jewish rebel army who took control of Judea, and Migron is an unauthorized settlement facing a court-ordered evacuation.
