The United States is preparing every option is possible to prevent the nuclearization of Iran, U.S. Ambassador to Israel told an Israeli newspaper.
The interview was conducted in English but translated and published in the Hebrew daily Ma'ariv.
Part of the interview appeared in the Thursday edition under the front page headline "The United States is Actively Preparing for Every Option in Iran."
The entire interview should appear in the Friday edition.
The U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv was unable to provide a transcript in English.
"Stopping the Iranian nuclearization is very important and therefore we already said, and I say again: every option is open -- every option," Shapiro told the newspaper.
"More than this we are actively examining those possibilities, and we are preparing the plans that are required in order to ensure that all those options exist, and I am not ruling out any solid possibility," Shapiro was quoted as saying.
"President Obama says very clearly that we will do everything and take every means required in order to prevent Iran from producing a nuclear weapon," he added.
When asked if the Americans are training for all the options, Shapiro said there is no need for training.
"We have a massive military presence in the area of the Gulf," he said.
