JERUSALEM, Israel -- The Palestinian Authority published an official terminology guide that defines terrorism as legitimate and Israel as an illegitimate pariah state.
Entitled "Terminology in Media, Culture and Politics," the P.A. Ministry of Information's guide provides readers with new words and phrases to replace what it calls "the Israeli and American dissemination of poisoned terms," the Palestinian Media Watch reported in its latest bulletin.
"As the Israeli terminology acts to distort the Palestinian national struggle, it turns the essence of the Zionist endeavor from a racist, colonialist endeavor into an endeavor of self-definition and independence for the Jewish people," the introduction states.
According to the guideline, one should never use the term "Israel" because that lends legitimacy to its existence. Instead, choose terms like "Israeli colonialism" or "the Israeli colonialist occupation."
Lists of other word substitutions redefine acts of terror and Israel's right of defense. For example, "resistance" replaces the term "terror" and "legitimate resistance" replaces "Palestinian violence."
The Israeli minister of defense becomes the Israeli minister of war, the Israel Defense Forces is called the Israeli occupation forces.
The Western Wall should be called the al-Buraq Wall, the Temple Mount the Noble Sanctuary of Jerusalem, the Promised Land becomes the Land of Palestine and Judea and Samaria the occupied West Bank.
East Jerusalem should be called Arab Jerusalem, Israeli authorities become Israeli occupation authorities, and suicide bombing morphs into a "martyrdom-seeking operation."
