\JERUSALEM, Israel -- If you read the following headline and sub-header, what would you think?

"IDF kills Palestinian in Jenin during clashes -- 2 Israeli soldiers lightly injured in West Bank violence in pre-dawn raid to arrest suspects of terrorist activity."  That was the headline of an article posted on the website of a major Israeli newspaper.

The initial article stated the IDF entered Jenin to arrest a member of Islamic Jihad, and residents resisted by throwing "empty bottles and stones" at the soldiers, who "fired tear gas and rubber bullets."

"The IDF spokeswoman said live fire was exchanged during the clashes. She said that Palestinians opened fire at the Israeli security force, but she did not elaborate on which side initiated the use of live ammunition. During the raid, one Palestinian was arrested for suspected involvement in terror activity, she said. He was interrogated," the initial article concluded.

A video and statement released by the IDF Spokesperson's Office, which clarified what took place, was later added to the updated post.

"In the course of a joint IDF and Israel Border Police operational activity in Jenin in which security forces sought to arrest a terror suspect, a violent riot developed during which terrorists fired at and threw incendiary devices, improvised grenades and rocks at the security forces. Two soldiers were injured as a result," the IDF statement read.

"The force returned fire at the source of the shooting and according to reports one terrorist was killed and two more lightly injured. A suspect was arrest and transferred to security forces for questioning.

"The IDF will continue to act against terror in any place whenever necessary," the statement concluded.
