JERUSALEM, Israel -- A video that went viral on Facebook helped vindicate a Tel Aviv resident wrongly accused of parking illegally in a handicapped spot.
Hila Ben Baruch had parked her car in an available spot near her apartment. To her astonishment when she returned, it wasn't there and the space had been transformed to a handicapped parking spot.
To add insult to injury, Baruch received a hefty $300 parking ticket and was accused of lying when she called the municipality to straighten out the issue.
Footage from a security camera, which looked more like spoof than reality, showed her parking the car in a legal spot. Not long afterward, a municipal road crew comes along and paints lines around the spot, transforming it to handicapped parking only.
Next comes a tow truck and the rest is history.
The city apologized to Baruch, whose name means blessing, and refunded her money.
The moral of the story: persevere...and park under a camera!
