JERUSALEM, Israel -- In an interview posted on al-Hafez television, Egyptian politician Khaled Zaafrani smilingly repeats an age-old blood libel.
Translations of Arabic-language websites by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which posted the interview with English subtitles, and the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) provide evidence of ongoing anti-Semitism in the Arab media.
"It is well known that during Passover, they make matzos called the Blood of Zion," Zaafrani says. "They take a Christian child, slit his throat and slaughter him," saying they absolutely "never forgo this rite."
"When this subject is raised, the Jews consider it to be a problem, just like the problem of Hitler and the Holocaust," he said at the end of the interview.
