JERUSALEM, Israel -- Egyptian security forces shot and killed a suicide bomber in southern Rafah en route to Israel's Kerem Shalom border crossing with the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Authority's official Ma'an news agency reported on Thursday.
Quoting Egyptian sources, the report said the terrorist was carrying a bomb in addition to the explosives belt strapped to this body, indicating his intention of carrying out a massive terror attack.
The sources also said Egyptian troops blew up a truck loaded with Grad missiles and missile launchers near the town of Sheikh Zuwied close to the Gaza border on Wednesday. The driver and one passenger were killed in the explosion.
Egypt's new government under President and former army chief Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has continued its crackdown on terror cells operating in the Sinai Peninsula, which fared much better under ousted Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi.
