JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israel Police are restricting entrance to Muslims on the Temple Mount to aid riot control after traditional Friday prayer. Men must be aged 40 or over, while there are no age restrictions for women.

The Jerusalem District police commander issued the order based on information that Arabs are planning disruptions again Friday afternoon.

On Thursday afternoon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security meeting at Israel Police headquarters in Jerusalem. In attendance were Public Safety Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch, Police Commissioner Yochanan Danino, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director Yoram Cohen and Jerusalem District Police Commander Moshe Edri.

Security chiefs briefed Netanyahu on Wednesday night’s vehicular terror attack that killed three-month-old Chaya Zissel Braun.

Netanyahu instructed security chiefs to deploy additional forces citywide and to reassert sovereignty in all Jerusalem neighborhoods.

The prime minister issued condolences to the Braun family and a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.

“On behalf of the entire nation, I send condolences to the family of this pure baby and my wishes for a quick and full recovery to those who were wounded,” he said.

“United Jerusalem was -- and will remain -- Israel's eternal capital. All attempts to attack its residents will be met with a very sharp reaction; we will restore quiet and security to Jerusalem,” he said.

Netanyahu said Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas “both extols the murders and embraces the organization the terrorists belong to.”

“Not only is Jerusalem under terrorist attack but other capitals and cities around the world are as well. But the attacks in Jerusalem are supported by Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen, who both extols the murderers and embraces the organization that the terrorists belong to, Hamas.

“And against these actions by the Palestinian Authority chairman, we find international weakness,” Netanyahu said. “They are not prepared to utter so much as a word of criticism against him. We have no such weakness. We will insist on our rights and on our obligation to defend our capital. We will do strongly -- and we will win.”

Netanyahu said Israel Police and Border Guard officers “will be deployed in large numbers in eastern Jerusalem and the Old City to prevent any disturbances.”
