JERUSALEM, Israel -- Anti-Semitism is on the rise around the world.

An annual report by Israeli researchers at Tel Aviv University says anti-Semitic incidents surged worldwide in 2014.

The study recorded 766 incidents, mostly in Western Europe, compared with 554 in 2013. That's a 38 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League found that attacks against Jews in the United States rose by 21 percent last year, counting 912 incidents in 2014 compared with 751 in 2013.

Both reports say the increase was partially linked to last summer's war between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian faction controlling the Gaza Strip.
