JERUSALEM, Israel -- A Palestinian Arab terrorist stabbed two Israeli soldiers Wednesday morning outside the community of Shilo in Samaria (the West Bank).

The attacker seriously wounded one soldier, 20, who was treated at the scene before being evacuated to Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

"The seriously wounded man arrived on a respirator and sedated, suffering stab wounds to his neck and head," YNet (ITALICS) quoted Dr. Ofer Marin, head of the hospital's trauma unit. "He received blood transfusions in the trauma ward. Once he is stabilized, we will continue to assess the extent of his wounds, after which he will be taken for surgery. The second victim is suffering from stab wounds to the back that are not considered to be life-threatening."

The second soldier, a medic with the Home Front Command, who was stabbed twice in the back, managed to shoot and kill the terrorist, identified as Mohammed Krakara, 29, from the village of Sinjil.

Palestinians carried out a wave of similar attacks during the end of last year, but it's been relatively quiet during the week-long Passover holiday.

The Palestinian Authority wants the West Bank for a future state, free of Jews. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews live in there in the area the Bible promises to the Jewish people as an eternal inheritance.
