JERUSALEM, Israel -- The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) is questioning an Arab driver who rammed his car into a bus stop in Jerusalem's French Hill neighborhood Wednesday evening, critically injuring two Israelis.

Tuesday night's incident may be the latest in a series of vehicular terror attacks over the past year in Jerusalem.

Shalom Yochai Sherki, 25, succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning at Jerusalem's Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where doctors are fighting to save a 20-year-old woman, who also sustained severe head injuries. She is sedated on a respirator.

Sherki was the son of Rabbi Uri Sherki, a prominent Algerian-born rabbi who immigrated to Israel from France and leads a synagogue in Jerusalem's Kiryat Moshe neighborhood. The victim's brother, Yair, is Channel 2's religious affairs correspondent.

Sherki was buried Wednesday morning as the nation observes Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day.

At 10:00 a.m., traffic came to a standstill and people stood beside their cars or on the sidewalks as a siren wailed in remembrance of the 6 million Jews -- 1.5 million of whom were children -- who were murdered at the hands of the Nazis.
