JERUSALEM, Israel -- President Barack Obama will meet with American Jewish leaders for the first time since signing an agreement with Iran last month on its nuclear programs.

On Tuesday afternoon, several major Jewish organizations will be represented at the meeting with the president at the White House.

Since signing the deal last month, Obama and others in his administration have been meeting with different groups to allay their fears over the deal.

A White House press statement said Tuesday's meeting will follow the same format as previous meetings with the president, the last one taking place in April before the agreement was signed.

Meanwhile, hours before the meeting at the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak via video conferencing with American Jewish leaders from the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Major American Jewish Organizations.

For more than a decade, Netanyahu has warned of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran, but the P5+1, the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany, who negotiated the deal with Iran, essentially ignored his warnings.

There's been widespread speculation as to whether Congress will approve the deal when it brings it to a vote in September, following 60 days of discussion. Obama has vowed to veto any bill that doesn't support the agreement signed in Vienna.
