JERUSALEM, Israel -- Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan led a bipartisan delegation to Israel this week to reinforce the strong alliance between the two countries.
During the two-day visit, Ryan met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.
In a one-on-one interview with Times of Israel founding Editor David Horowitz, Ryan's positions lined up closely with Netanyahu's on Iran, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the rising threat of Islamic terrorism.
"We have international terrorism that is threatening the civilized world," Ryan said. "It's threatening us. They're coming at Israel, but they're ultimately coming for us. So we are partners in this war on terror, radical Islamic terrorism."
"Anti-Semitism is on the rise. Anti-Americanism is on the rise. Terrorism is on the rise. They're kicking out generations of young kids – look at the knife intifada you have here," he said.
In his remarks, Ryan used what's considered to be the politically incorrect term, "radical Islam," in contrast to President Barack Obama, who has consistently avoided that terminology during his tenure in office.
The House speaker also met with his Israeli counterpart, Yuli Edelstein, the speaker of the Knesset.
