Former Israeli President Shimon Peres was admitted to hospital on Thursday morning after suffering from chest pain.
The 92-year-old ninth president of Israel underwent heart catheterization and was reportedly in good condition.
Peres helped negotiate the clandestine Oslo Accords in the early 1990s, the foundation of the current Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. He and former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize for the deal.
Peres was first elected to the Knesset in 1959 and has held numerous government positions, including prime minister, defense minister, and foreign minister.
He was also heavily involved in the development of Israel's nuclear program.
He was elected by Israel's parliament to the presidency and finished his seven-year term in 2014.
