General's Religious Comments on
War Get Him in Trouble
August 20, 2004

(CBN News) - An army general who described the war on terror in religious
terms has been found guilty of three relatively minor offenses.
Lt. Gen. William Boykin got in trouble for comments he made at various
church groups. Boykin said that America is a Christian nation. And
he made what some consider anti-Islamic comments.
A Pentagon report says Boykin did not get clearance for his speech.
And he did not clarify that his remarks were personal and not official.
A senior Pentagon official tells the Washington Post he sees it as
a "complete exoneration," that Boykin is responsible for
only "relatively minor offenses."
Brazil Becomes One of World's Largest Bible Producers
(CBN News) - Brazil is now one of the largest producers of Bibles
in the world. Last year, Brazil published more than four million of
the 21 million Bibles published by the World Bible Society.
One reason for the boom is a decade-long revival led by evangelical
churches. Evangelicals have increased from nine percent of Brazil's
population in 1991, to 15 percent in 2000.
This is just more evidence of the growth of Christianity around the
world, south of the Equator.
