Former Southern Baptist President Adrian Rogers Dies


CBN.com(CBN News) - The Rev. Adrian Rogers, three-time president of the Southern Baptist Convention, died early Wednesday in Memphis. He was 74.

The Baptist Press News Web site and Rogers' own Web site announced the death.

Rogers was hospitalized earlier this month with pneumonia and cancer, according to his Web site.

Rogers was elected president in 1979 as part of the conservative takeover of the convention.
