The debate over Proposition 8, the ballot measure that ended same-sex marriage in California, is still underway in the state's courts.

Gay rights groups are developing plans to create a ballot initiative to overturn Prop 8 while traditional marriage supporters are fighting a federal challenge claiming the gay marriage ban is unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, a similar fight over the definition of marriage continues to brew in Washington, D.C.
