The President and Mrs. Bush hosted their final Easter egg roll on the White House lawn Monday.
Mrs. Bush led the countdown and blew the whistle to begin the festivities.
Thousands of children attended the annual Easter event. The Easter egg race tradition dates back to 1878 when President Rutherford B. Hayes served in the Executive office.
The president's daughter Jenna Bush, and his mother and former First Lady Barbara Bush were also in attendance.
The event featured about 15,000 eggs.
Every child attending the event got to take home a commemorative White House wooden egg.
