Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill took time to stuff stockings for troops overseas.
The Stockings for Soldiers event was held in the Biden's home state of Delaware. The cause is close to their hearts. Their son, Beau Biden, is serving in Iraq with the National Guard.
"It means a great deal to them," Biden said of the soldiers. "It's not so much what is in them, it just means a lot to them."
The organization Stockings4Soldiers, which started in 2003, puts together Christmas stockings for Army National Guard soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Leaders with the charity group say it can be very discouraging for those in the military to be away from home at Christmas time. To help, Stockings4Soldiers say they want to show these brave men and women that there are people back home who support them.
As for what's in the stockings? The group says they try to send a little home town Christmas to the soldiers.
Each stocking is filled with personal items that are needed, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo. They also include some snack items, pens, stress balls, and music CDs.
