A political action group wants to thank Alaska Governor Sarah Palin by airing two Thanksgiving-themed television commercials.
The Our Country Deserves Better Committee produced the commercials to thank the governor for her conservative values and her service. The television spots will begin airing on stations around the country Tuesday.
The commercials will run on broadcast and cable networks both in Alaska and the lower 48 states. The four major networks will broadcast them on Thanksgiving Day.
Sal Russo, chief strategist for the PAC group, explains that Palin generates the same kind of excitement that Ronald Reagan did in his day. Russo worked for Reagan in 1966 when he ran for California governor.
"There was just an excitement that most politicians don't get," he said.
Russo said Palin also was subjected to a lot of negative attacks and cheap shots while campaigning with Sen. John McCain.
"Washington elites don't like outsiders," Russo said. "We want her to know that doesn't reflect what millions of Americans think."
Palin has not yet seen the commercials, her spokesman said Tuesday.
"Right now, she is concentrating on Alaska state government business," he said.
