President Barack Obama may be on vacation this week at Martha's Vineyard, but Americans are not taking a break from the debate over health care reform.
Thousands packed out town hall meetings across the country Monday to voice their support or opposition to the president's plan.
Lawmakers were met with both applause and cat-calls over the issue.
"I will tell you that I think we still have a chance to have a public option," said Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. "option. It's called option for a reason."
"If there's anything in this legislation that takes away your ability to have access to your private insurance company that you have today or prohibit it in the future I will vote against this bill," said Rep. Lincoln Davis, D-Tenn.
